ANCHORAGE - A combative British passenger who forced a flight to divert to Anchorage has been charged with interfering with a flight crew.

The FBI says 56-year-old John James Leigh was jailed Saturday after the American Airlines Los Angeles to Tokyo flight landed at the Anchorage airport.

The Anchorage Daily News reports a court affidavit says Leigh had consumed about six drinks on the flight.

The FBI says when flight attendants cut him off because his speech was slurred, Leigh began yelling, cursing and fighting with the crew.
