JUNEAU - The Juneau Convention & Visitors Bureau's 8th Annual Juneau Travel Fair, a free community event, will take place at the Nugget Mall on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
"Our staff and volunteers have noticed over the years that many local residents could use some ideas when it comes to being a 'tour guide' with their own visitors," said Lorene Palmer, president and CEO for the Bureau.
The Juneau Travel Fair will host 34 vendors with information ranging from accommodations, fishing charters and whale watching tours to sea kayaking, glacier trekking and zipline activities. The Fair will give residents an opportunity to make arrangements for visitors coming to Juneau for family reunions, weddings, stay-cations and business events.
Many of the Travel Fair vendors offer resident specials and discounts.
"JCVB members really appreciate the business brought to them from locals and their guests," Palmer said. "Resident discounts are often extended to include visiting family and friends."
The Juneau Convention & Visitors Bureau is a private, nonprofit economic development organization dedicated to enhancing the local economy by promoting Juneau as a year-round visitor destination.
