ANCHORAGE - The Alaska Railroad Corp. says it earned $13.9 million on total revenues of $169.4 million in 2009.
The corporation issued its annual report on Thursday.
The corporation notched the increase despite laying off more than 120 people last September because of financial problems.
AARC Board of Directors Chairman John Binkley says despite the economic challenges of last year, the corporation remains financially solid.
Railroad assets increased by about $7 million to more than $861 million.
