JUNEAU - Studded tire season is about to end, and the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities is reminding Juneau motorists to remove the studded tires on their vehicles by April 15.
"The use of studded tires is a major factor in the deterioration of our highways, and their use must be strictly enforced to the legal season," said DOT&PF Commissioner Leo von Scheben.
Those driving with studded tires after the deadline could be issued a citation with a fine of up to $50 for each tire.
