FAIRBANKS - A 26-year-old Tok man was sentenced to two years in prison for an alcohol-fueled beating of another man.
Just before he was sentenced Monday, Rex Defrance apologized to the man whose teeth he kicked out in August 2007.
His sentence was part of a December agreement with prosecutors in which he pleaded guilty to second-degree felony assault.
Defrance originally was charged with attempted murder and kidnapping, as well as multiple misdemeanor charges of assault and furnishing alcohol to minors.
Alaska State Troopers said Defrance had been drinking at a party in Tok with several minors when he beat Dave Howard, who was 19 at the time.
Defrance left Alaska soon after. He was found in February 2008 when police arrested him on a routine traffic stop in Montana.
