Concern over personal attacks

Posted: Sunday, April 09, 2000

I've been disturbed by recent personal attacks on former Fish and Game Commissioner Carl Rosier that have appeared in this paper. It's understandable that people feel strongly about wildlife management issues. Everyone has the right to voice their opinion about these important matters, but let's not let the political become personal.

I just want to remind folks that over the years, Mr. Rosier has stood up time and time again for the protection of Alaska's public lands and the public's continued use and enjoyment of these valued resources. Each time that special interests have proposed robbing public lands, Mr. Rosier has defended the hunters, fishermen, and recreationists who depend on these areas. All of us who enjoy using public lands should thank him for his tireless efforts on our behalf.
