Cub Scouts collect for annual food drive

Posted: Wednesday, April 09, 2008

JUNEAU - Between April 5 and April 12, Cub Scouts and Boys Scouts will distribute collection bags and fliers inviting the public to participate in the annual food drive, Scouting for Food, for the Southeast Alaska Food Bank, to take place between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday.

The fliers will invite the public to leave bags of non-perishable foods on the doorstep during that time. The food bank recommends that the best donations include canned fruits and vegetables, tuna and canned meat, pasta, oatmeal and cereals, rice, dried or canned beans, soups and peanut butter and jelly. Donators can use the bags the scouts drop off. If the Scouts fail to pick up your bags of food, feel free to drop off the food at the food bank at 10020 Crazy Horse Drive, off the end of Industrial Boulevard.

For more information, call Cal Hiebsch at 789-8440.
