Ice Pirates slip past Island Pub in OT

The Ice Pirates upset the Island Pub 2-1 in overtime Sunday to advance in the Juneau Adult Hockey Association Tier A playoffs at Treadwell Arena.

Mike Bovitz scored in the extra period to give the Ice Pirates the win.

Bovitz also assisted on Brian Drew's goal.

The Island Pub's Mike Dzuiba scored off Lance Miller's assist.

Chip Verrelli made 19 saves for the Island Pub while Ice Pirates goaltender Ben White stopped 27 shots.

TIER A

Doc Water's Pub 4,Svensson's Boatworks 3, OT

Kyle Hebert scored with 4:32 left in overtime to give Doc Water's Pub a win over Svensson's Boatworks.

Hebert scored a hat trick in the game while Chris Siddon contributed three assists.

Stan Savland had a goal while Davin Savikko, Nick Korzen and John Bohan each had assists.

Doc Water's Pub goaltender Thomas McKenzie made 25 saves in the win.

TIER B

Capital Embroidery 2, Maroon 1

Capital Embroidery scored twice in the second period to beat the Maroon team on Sunday.

Kyle Eyre had a goal and assist, Shawn Haase scored and Dave Blaisdell had an assist to lift Capital Embroidery.

Robert Jones' scored an unassisted goal for the Maroon team while goaltender Wayne Coleman made 16 saves.

Maroon goalie Rick Pannel stopped 21 of 22 shots in the win.

Good Hardware 2, Fighting Sloths 1

Thomas Fletcher and Peter Anderegg each had a goal and assist in the first period to propel Good Hardware past the Fighting Sloths.

Good Hardware goaltender Scott Sell made 31 saves in the win.

For the Fighting Sloths, Thomas McKenzie scored off Jason McAdoo's assist as Don Voss made 15 saves.

D.K. Miners 5, Bleu Chunks 0

Wayne Coleman stopped all 14 shots he faced as D.K. Miners routed Bleu Chunks.

Dan Hickok, Randy Gregg, Jason Harvey, Gene Cheeseman and Peter Ord all scored to lead a diverse attack for D.K. Miners.

Ian Fisk had three assists while Arne Johnson, Val Martinez, Jason Soza, Tami Watts, Ord and Harvey recorded one assist each.

D.K. Miners goaltender Wayne Coleman made 14 saves while Bleu Chunks goalie Jeffrey Goetz stopped 35 shots.

TIER C

Capital City Fire and Rescue 5, Blue 2

Gary Rennie scored a hat trick while Mike Sigler and Bill Hill contributed goals for Capital City Fire and Rescue.

Shannon Seifert, Mike Wright, Alan Schorr and Rennie all had assists in the win while goaltender Jason McAdoo stopped 15 shots.

The Blue team's Bryan Zepp and Barbara Blake scored goals while Stephen O'Brian, Kit Watts and David Seid had assists. Blue goaltender Scott Sell turned back 25 of 30 shots.
