Trail Mix reveals new Web site for Juneau hikers

JUNEAU - Trail Mix today released a new Web site aimed at providing better information to Juneau's hikers, bicyclists and other trail users.

The new site - - uses Google Earth to offer 3D hiking maps, as well as detailed route information for some of the area's most popular trails. Users can also download individual trails to their personal GPS units.

More trails will be added as volunteers and students enrolled in the organization's Tongass Trails Initiative gather additional data throughout the summer.

Also new is a calendar detailing Trail Mix's summer project schedule, as well as information special events and volunteering for trail work. Information on the new Juneau Trails Plan will be introduced on the Web site for public comment later this summer.
