School board reschedules meeting

JUNEAU - The Juneau School Board has rescheduled its regular April 16 meeting due to an anticipated lack of a quorum.

Several board members will be out of town on that date, so the meeting has been moved to Tuesday, April 23. The meeting will start at 6 p.m. at the district's central offices on Glacier Avenue.

UAS Sitka director resigning

SITKA - John Carnegie, director of the University of Alaska Southeast Sitka Campus, will step down from that position later this year.

Carnegie submitted his resignation, effective Aug. 15, citing health reasons and the need for more free time. He has worked at UAS Sitka since 1995 and has served as campus director since 1999.

He will likely stay on campus as a faculty member with the Environmental Technology Program, which he helped to found.

UAS Chancellor John Pugh said in a news release that recruitment for Carnegie's replacement will begin immediately with a goal of selecting someone by the start of the fall semester.
