The Pulitzer Prize-winning play "Proof," by David Auburn, opens this weekend at the University of Alaska Southeast.
The play, directed by Flordelino Lagundino, opens at 9 p.m. Friday, April 11. Additional shows include a 7:30 p.m. performance on Saturday, April 12, and a matinee at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 13. All performances are pay as you can.
UAS students Jamie Erickson, Angela Hubbs and Kent Pilsbury are featured in the play. Adam Ward is a guest artist with the show.
The play revolves around Catherine, a troubled young woman who has spent years caring for her brilliant but unstable father, a famous mathematician. She must deal with her own volatile emotions following his death, as well as the arrival of her estranged sister, Claire, and the attentions of Hal, a former student of her father's who hopes to find valuable work in the 103 notebooks her father left behind. Over the long weekend that follows, a burgeoning romance and the discovery of a mysterious notebook draws Catherine into a difficult problem.
