JUNEAU - Northern Lights Junior Theatre has announced it will hold a summer academy Monday through Friday afternoons, from 1 to 4:30 p.m., from July 13 to Aug. 7 at the Nugget Mall.

The academy will emphasize building theater skills. Theater director Cinnamon Simpson and teen interns will teach diction, voice projection, physical acting and pantomime acting, basic stage movement and blocking, and scene and character work.

On the last Friday of the academy, from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m., there will be a showcase of works.

The theater will accept a maximum of 25 students. For returning participants, admittance will be on a first-come, first-served basis. For newcomers, acceptance into the program will be based upon a short interview.

The early-bird rate is $215 per student through May 15. After May 16, it is $250 per student. A limited amount of scholarship assistance will be available.
