In response to Sharon Cordell's litter letter to the editor in Friday's paper - I am youth litter patrol coordinator for Litter Free, Inc. Our youth litter patrol has already picked up 8,000 pounds of trash in the last two weeks. Our big cleanup is scheduled for May 11. We are looking for volunteers. Call 780-4387 for more information.
I thought it was great that Sunday's paper had the section on books; bestsellers, hardbounds, fiction and nonfiction. The only thing that would make it better is if you had added on to that best-seller list best-seller pocket books. I'm glad to see that you have added that, even if it's only once a month or so. It's something that's nice, just like the food section is, which has been added to the newspaper since I have moved here three years ago.
A Native cultural center in Juneau is a wonderful idea. However, I saw no mention of a cultural center Iin any of the documents regarding the Steamship Wharf/Marine Park improvement project. This supports my position that any improvements to the harbor area need to be part of an overall comprehensive plan. Let's make a decision regarding any change as part of a developed plan, not as a separate outlay of over $5 million for one small area along our harbor.
