The Juneau Lady Looters women's hockey team posted a perfect 5-0 record and won the intermediate division title at the 2005 Fools on Ice/Alaska Women's Spring Hockey Invitational, held April 1-3 in Anchorage.
The Looters were one of three Juneau teams at the tournament, which included 16 teams from Anchorage, Kodiak and Los Angeles.
Juneau's Twisted Sisters finished with a 1-3 record in the novice division, while the Capital City Seablazers - making their second straight trip to the tournament - went 0-4 after jumping up to the advanced division this year.
Lady Looters goalie Jess Parks posted shutouts in all five games as her team won all four round-robin games, and then beat Rayville Sports of Anchorage 2-0 in the championship game. Paula Eaton scored both of Juneau's goals in the final.
Michelle Kaelke scored a hat trick and Janelle White had two goals and two assists in the Looters' first round-robin game as the team set up its title-winning run.
The Lady Looters included Aurah Landau, Michelle Drummond, Jan Rumble, Michelle Kaelke, Shawna Harpner, Carla Copenhaver, Carrie McMullen, Julie Nielson, Michelle Morris, Janelle White, Sharon Fisher, Paula Archer, J.J. Vollenweider, Karen Blejwas and Jess Parks. They were coached by Ben White.
"I was very impressed with the way all of the ladies from Juneau played and the sportsmanship that they displayed by watching and cheering on the other Juneau teams," Ben White said. "We had by far the largest and loudest cheering section in the arena. ...
"Some of the Juneau women have only been playing for a short time (and) the fact that they played so well is a testament to their hard work at all levels."
