It took Mother Nature a long time to grow the Tongass timber. As we all know, it's not nice to fool with Mother Nature. Tongass is a national treasure; let it be. If the Forest Service wants to sell lumber, then it should go to Camp David and start cutting.

I was in Alaska from 1967 to '68 and was always impressed with the forest up there. I grew up in coal country in northeast Pennsylvania. The coal companies scarred the land, and it still can be seen today. Let's leave some beauty for our children and grandchildren.
