Slush Cup sidelined

Posted: Friday, April 11, 2008

Eaglecrest Ski Area General Manager Kirk Duncan hands out ski lift passes to Clinton and Jennifer Talley during their employee appreciation day on Thursday. The ski area will close for the season on Monday. Instead of closing out the season by skipping across an icy pool on skis and snowboards in the annual Slush Cup, riders will instead have to settle for more than one foot of fresh snow that has fallen on top of 170 inches already covering the uppermountain. Duncan said the water pipe from Cropely Lake is still frozen and there is no water to fill a pool traditionally dug into the snowpack near the base of the mountain.
