JUNEAU - Author Jason Dorsey will speak about one of the hottest topics among the business world today - Generation Y - at the annual Pillars of America Speaker Series at noon Wednesday, April 16, at Centennial Hall.
According to Dorsey, Generation Y is young, smart and brash. They may wear flip-flops to the office or listen to iPods at their desk. They want to work, but they don't want work to be their life. This is Generation Y - a force of as many as 70 million, and the first wave is just now embarking on their careers, taking their place in an increasingly multigenerational workplace.
Dorsey authored his first bestselling book, "Graduate to Your Perfect Job," at age 18. Dorsey followed the success of his first book with three more, including his newest book titled, "My Reality Check Bounced!"
Dorsey's insight into Generation Y led to his appearances on "60 Minutes," "20/20," NBC's "Today Show" and ABC's "The View." In recognition of his business achievements, Dorsey won the Austin Under 40 Entrepreneur of the Year Award at age 25, which in true Generation Y fashion, made his mom very proud. But most important for the students who might be attending, Dorsey recently headlined a comedy show with Keenan Thompson, from "Keenan & Kel" and "Saturday Night Live."
Tickets for the series are available at both locations of Hearthside Books.
