Transit center workshop set

A public workshop concerning a transit center in downtown Juneau will be held 7:00 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, at the City Assembly Chambers, 55 South Seward Street. The center will include a passenger shelter, bus loading and parking areas, a driver rest station, and maybe a concession with bus information and ticket sales, a police substation, and public rest rooms. The public is invited to the workshop to help decide where to put the center. Alternatives may include changes to some downtown bus routes. Please come and give comments, ideas and preferences.

A second workshop is tentatively set for May 21. For more information, please call Alicja Gorska, project architect, at the CBJ Engineering Department, 586-0885, or e-mail her at Alicja_Gorska@ci.juneau.ak.us.

Silverbow introduces folk fest granola bar

In honor of the people in Juneau for the Alaska Folk Festival, the Silverbow Inn, Bakery and Catering announces a limited edition folk fest granola bar.

The bar, which is made of oats, brown sugar, cranberries and sunflower seeds, complements the all-natural baked goods made fresh daily at the Silverbow.

The bar is keeping with the spirit of folk fest, Silverbow owner Jill Ramiel said.

"We wanted to do something special to welcome all the folk fest participants to Juneau and to the Silverbow."

During folk fest, the Silverbow will be hosting a series of events, including the all-night jam slated for today and the third annual singer-songwriter showcase, scheduled for 3 to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

For more information, contact Ramiel at 586-4146.
