William Vern Graves

Lifelong Juneau resident William Vern Graves died April 8, 2005, in Juneau.

He was born to William Graves Sr. and Muriel Graves on June 26, 1930, in Juneau. He attended Juneau High School and was in the National Guard. He was founder and president of Valley Lumber Company.

He was a member of the Elks Club and Pioneers of Alaska.

He is survived by his wife, Lois Graves; sons, Dan Graves and his wife, Julie of Juneau, Ken Graves of Juneau, and Benje Graves and his wife, Michelle of Marsing, Idaho; former daughter-in-law, JoAnn Bell Graves of Juneau; brothers, David Graves of Graton, Calif. and Alan Graves of Oakland, Ore.; grandchildren Amy, Tyson, Nathan, Tony, Chelsea, Jacob and Kyra; and great-grandchildren Jorden and Bergen.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. April 13, at First Church of God. Donations in his name may be made to Hospice of Juneau.
