The three Rotary clubs of Juneau and Rotoract would like to thank the people of Juneau for their support of the Southeast Alaska Food Bank drive held Feb. 28. The Pre-spring Food Drive this year brough in 12,946 pounds of food donations for the food bank. That's about 3,700 pounds more than last year's collection.
More than 75 Rotarians solicited donations from shoppers at four grocery stores as well as from friends, neighbors and co-workers. We would like to especially thank Carrs/Safeway, Super Bear, Fred Meyer and Alaskan & Proud for hosting the food collection sites. Also, thanks go out to KSUP, KINY, KJNO and KTKU for radio time and ads for the event. A special thank you to the Rev. Mike from KSUP.
Several food drives throughout the year are critical to maintaining enough food on hand at the food bank to make sure no one goes hungry in our community.
