ANCHORAGE - Mount Redoubt about 100 miles southwest of Anchorage continues to be active.
The Alaska Volcano Observatory said the volcano continued to produce many small, discrete earthquakes. It also was producing a steam plume, that may contain some ash. The steam is visible on a Webcam placed at low altitudes near the volcano.
Seismologists said Redoubt is in a dome-building phase, where it will continue like this for a time until the dome collapses, resulting in a much larger explosion.
Then, it will begin dome-building again.
