ANCHORAGE - Indigenous leaders from the Russian Far East will travel to Barrow next week for a weeklong cultural exchange.
A spokeswoman for Pacific Environment, Shawna Larson, says the goal is to strengthen ties and foster relationships across the Arctic and identify opportunities for collaboration between communities.
The indigenous groups will be joined by scientists and environmental advocates.
Larson says the groups are expected to exchange information about the effects of resource extraction and industrialization that affect their homes.
