Palmer to let city manager go

WASILLA - The Palmer City Council has voted to let its contract with City Manager Bill Allen expire.

The council will search for a new city manager to replace Allen when his contract expires Sept. 27.

The Mat-Su Valley Frontiersman reports Allen had asked to remain with the city for two more years. But the council voted unanimously Tuesday to let his contract run out.

Some critics say the city moved too quickly under Allen.

Allen says he was hired to make things happen and he did everything that the council had asked him to do.
