Leave the mine alone

Letter to the editor

Posted: Wednesday, April 13, 2005

We all cannot be so lucky to have a good paying job working for the federal, state or city government here in Alaska; nor would all of us want those jobs. With the oil running out, the timber and fishing industry taking a hit, and most available jobs being only seasonal, we need to let the mines open up and create some new incomes here in Juneau. It will create a new tax base and help more people get back on their feet again with money to spend in our community. It seems our population is growing and our economy is not. The mines have my vote.
