Poetry slam to be held Sunday

The Green Eggs and Slam public poetry event will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, April 17, at the Juneau-Douglas High School auditorium.

The slam, sponsored by the JDHS C.H.O.I.C.E. program, is free and open to all ages. Prizes will be awarded.

Dance team community show

The Juneau-Douglas High School Dance Team hosts its annual community show at 7 p.m., April 14 and 15 at the school gym. The show features this season's dance routines as well as special performances by Dad's Drill Team, Janice Holst Dancers, Salsa Norte, Dancing JDHS Women's Basketball team, the Filipino Community Dancers and more Juneau performers.

Social workers' workshop

The Alaska Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers presents a clinical workshop on "Theories of Attachment and Clinical Application." from 6 to 9 p.m., April 18, at Bartlett Hospital in the administrative services building. Herbert Glacier Trail closure

The Herbert Glacier Trail will be closed three miles from the trailhead from April 13 through April 19. Trail reconstruction is beginning on the upper reach of the trail, requiring trail closure for safety reasons.
