Permanent Fund lump sum is a bad idea

The permanent fund lump sum idea? Most people would piss it away and it'd be gone forever. Not only that, the amount of money we're talking here is so small compared to our deficit, that it would have virtually no impact.

I think a better idea is: If it ain't broke, don't fix it. A lump sum would hurt more than help. The permanent fund was designed to be just that, a distribution in perpetuity to Alaska residents who qualify. Human nature is to spend and not save in American culture.
