JUNEAU - The governor's office said Alaska is the first state to enroll more than half its population as organ and tissue donors.

More than 335,000 Alaskans have signed up for the registry.

Gov. Sarah Palin says that "demonstrates the selfless and generous nature of Alaskans."

Among the Alaskans who have signed up are the governor, first gentleman Todd Palin and their two oldest children.

Palin's office says 95 percent of those registering as organ and tissue donors do so through the Alaska Division of Motor Vehicles.
