ANCHORAGE - A massive rock slide on Sunday closed the Whittier tunnel. The tunnel is expected to be closed for several days.
State officials told The Anchorage Daily News that boulders - some the size of trucks - blocked the access road to the tunnel.
Rick Feller, a spokesman for the state Department of Transportation, said the slide came down between the Whittier tunnel and the visitor center.
No one was injured.
Feller said it probably will take three days to clear the road.
