ANCHORAGE - The Census Bureau says Alaskans are lagging behind the nation in returning their questionnaires.

As of Thursday, 53 percent of Alaska households had returned the questionnaires, the lowest percentage in the country. The national response rate was 64 percent.

The Anchorage Daily News reports the response rate in Anchorage was 60 percent, and the rate in both Mat-Su and the Kenai Peninsula Borough was 44 percent.

The bureau says there's still time to send in the forms.
