Faith in mining co. shouldn't be blind

Letter to the editor

Posted: Friday, April 14, 2006

I enjoy reading the letters to the editor, as it gives me a real insight as to what is going on up there in my former home of Juneau. Nevertheless, when I read Dennis Watson's letter regarding the Kensington Mine (April 4), I found it about as informative as a doughnut hole is nutritious. He stated no facts other than the size of the lake (20 acres?), but did express his "belief" in the mining industry. He "believes" that they will not only protect the lake, but will improve its environmental quality and worthiness.

Sound off on the important issues at

Mr. Watson also asked if (anti-mine) people "are misinformed, do they have a hidden agenda, or do they not have all the facts?"

I would (and do so now) ask Mr. Watson if he is informed at all about this matter, what hidden agenda does he have, and does he have any facts?

Some people are bulls thrashing their way through life, some are ostriches with their heads stuck in the sand, and some are gullible guppies swallowing corporate propaganda hook, line and sinker.

Show me facts, not beliefs!
