Cheerleading clinic offered Saturday
The Juneau Youth Football League will host a cheerleading clinic from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Riverbend Elementary School gym.
Students ages 6 to 9 begin at 9 a.m. and will display the skills they learn at 11:45 a.m. The cost for them is $15.
Older students begin at 9 a.m. and present their skills at 3:15 p.m. The cost for them is $25.
All participants must wear comfortable clothing and gym shoes and bring a water bottle. Older students should bring a sack lunch.
Building association accepts scholar apps
The Southeast Alaska Building Industry Association is accepting applications for scholarships until May 20.
Scholarships are open to anyone pursuing further education in a two- or four-year institution in a building related curriculum or to the dependent of someone who is employed in the building industry in Southeast Alaska.

Sistermans to take part in cancer walk
Juneau residents Joe and Tracy Sisterman are having a dessert and silent auction fund-raiser to help the fight against breast cancer from 4 to 6 p.m. May 7, at the Nugget Mall.
The Sistermans are participating in a three-day, 60-mile walk in Seattle to benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation and the National Philanthropic Trust Fund.
