JUNEAU - Juneau police are looking for help in combating graffiti, which seems to be popping up all over Alaska's capital city.
Graffiti started showing up more frequently in the downtown area, but has since spread citywide, police said. The graffiti contributes to lost revenue, reduced retail sales, and declines in property value, said department spokeswoman Cindee Brown-Mills.
Catching the vandals in the act is difficult at best, police said. There are no city ordinances in place that address the prompt removal of graffiti from vandalized property, Brown-Mills said.
Police advise property owners to remove graffiti as soon as possible to avoid being a target for more vandalism.
