Johnny Hart's Easter Sunday B.C. cartoon shows a lit menorah. With each of the seven last statements of Christ a candle on the menorah is extinguished, until what is left is a cross. From the cross a stream of blood, perhaps meant to evoke the moment in Matthew 27:24-25 when Pilate washes his hands and the Jewish multitudes allegedly take the blood guilt on themselves and their children, flows to a cave containing a wine glass and a loaf of bread.
Thank you very much for running this cartoon. What better day than Easter Sunday to force Christians to wonder if their basic doctrines are anti-Semitic?
