The Hot Club of Cowtown, guest artists for the 30th Alaska Folk Festival, perform Thursday evening at Centennial Hall. Band members are, from left to right, Elana Fremerman, Whit Smith and Jake Erwin. The Austin, Texas, trio plays again at 11 p.m. tonight at the National Guard Armory and at 9 p.m. Sunday at Centennial Hall.

Below: Former Juneau resident Julie Machakos from Lompoc, Calif., sings a gospel song with her group The String Sisters on Thursday at Centennial Hall. Machakos was just one of numerous musicians who came to Juneau from out of state to perform at the annual event.
