Kudos to the out-of-town bands that entertained us with some real great picking on stage at the Alaska Folk Festival on April 7. Up until then I was not real sure if I'd shown up for a political rally or a folk music festival.
Sound off on the important issues at
My advice to those political pundits who took the stage the previous four nights of the folk festival: If you have political convictions, keep them to yourself. Believe it or not, we came to town for the music. Get a life folks. This country, for all that you despair it's perceived problems, is still the greatest republic (we pledge allegiance to the republic, not the democracy) on the planet. It is today still the most sought-after asylum for the discouraged, the disadvantaged and the disenchanted.
