KETCHIKAN - The University of Alaska Board of Regents will host a community reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the University of Alaska Southeast Robertson/Hamilton Technology Building, 600 Stedman St., in Ketchikan.
The Board of Regents is an 11-member board, appointed by the governor and confirmed by the Alaska Legislature. Members serve eight-year terms, with the exception of the student regent, who is nominated from his/her campus and serves a two-year term. The board was established through the Alaska Constitution and is responsible for University of Alaska policy and management through the university president.
UAS in Ketchikan provides a wide variety of educational courses and programs to Ketchikan and the surrounding communities throughout the year. Courses and programs are available locally and distance including Web-based and audio-conference classes. Through these offerings, students can achieve certifications, associate, bachelor and master degrees.
