ANCHORAGE - Two foundations have formed a partnership to rebuild the Scotty Gomez Hockey Rink in east Anchorage.

The Airports Heights Community Council recently received a $40,000 challenge grant from the Anchorage Park Foundation to rebuild the rink.

The Anchorage Park Foundation is partnering with the Scotty Gomez Foundation and the community council to raise the needed funds and organize volunteers for the project this summer.

The money is the first capital grant the Scotty Gomez Foundation has awarded.

The rink, where Gomez grew up playing hockey, was built more than 25 years ago.
