Strong earthquake detected near Adak

FAIRBANKS - A strong earthquake was felt in Adak on Tuesday, but there were no immediate reports of damage.

The magnitude 6.2 temblor was felt just before 3 p.m. The Alaska Earthquake Information Center said it was located about 110 miles west of Adak in the Andreanof Islands region.

The city clerk's office said it was fairly strong, but no damage has been reported.
