ANCHORAGE - The state has extended the deadline for removing studded tires for some drivers.
Wednesday would have been the deadline for areas south of 60 degrees north latitude, including Southeast Alaska.
But because of poor road conditions, the deadline has been extended to May 1, the usual deadline for Anchorage, Sterling Highway communities and points north.
After the deadline, drivers with studded tires can be issued a ticket with a $50 fine for each tire.
