FAIRBANKS - A man convicted of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl at a Fairbanks home was sentenced to five years in prison.
A jury convicted 43-year-old Jerry Karr of Wasilla in December and he was sentenced Wednesday by Superior Court Judge Michael MacDonald.
Prosecutors said Karr had sex with the teen in July 2007 while she was asleep. He had supplied her and several other juveniles with alcohol. Karr was arrested last year in Redding, Calif., where he was taking care of his ill parents.
During the trial, Karr testified the sex was consensual.
At the sentencing, the girl said she did not give her permission. She said she's had a harder time trusting others since the incident.
