Big shoes to fill

Sacrifice, commitment, discipline, a high standard of excellence. These are only a few of the adjectives that come to mind when you think of the Juneau-Douglas High School Dance and Drill Team. After 14 years of commitment, Leslie Dahl has resigned as head coach. During her tenure, the drill team achieved success that only few teams in this nation ever will.

Teams of national stature and superiority, teams that consistantly perform at a peak level of excellence are made, not born. This is a coaching realm that many aspire to but few attain.

John Wooden created a basketball dynasty at UCLA. Leslie Dahl created a drill team dynasty at JDHS. We, the community of Juneau, and everyone who has been involved with the drill team have benefited from Leslie's commitment to excellence and the sacrifices she has made these past 14 years to put the drill team on top.

Thank you Leslie, from all the citizens of Juneau, for a job well done.
