Salon staff attend exposition: Cuts Online Salon & Spa staff learned about the newest technology for sanitation products and the latest trends in hair, skin and nails at the International Cosmetology Exposition in Los Angeles. Attending were Jessica Albritton, Shawon Hicks, Rachelle Kalkins and Jo Anne Bell-Graves. Blade cutting for thick and curly hair, dry scissoring from designer Yosh and shattered layering were some of the techniques they studied.

Co-op gallery adds quilter: Marla Robb is the newest member of The Juneau Artist Gallery, a cooperatively owned business. Robb's work includes quilts, scarves and handmade journals. Robb holds a bachelor in visual arts degree from the University of California. She has lived in Colorado, Texas, Scotland, Istanbul and the former Soviet Union, and her art is inspired by that of ancient cultures.

The gallery, at 175 S. Franklin St. in the Senate Building, also has new officers, elected in January. They are President Nell McConahey, who works in jewelry and glass; Vice President Seely Hall, who creates pencil drawings; Secretary and Webmaster Robyn Marriott, who creates art glass works; Treasurer Diane Biggness, a ceramic artist; and Advertising Officer Dianne Anderson, who creates etchings.
