Police and Fire

Juneau police, fire officials and state troopers reported:

Driving while intoxicated:

About 1 a.m. today, Norton Gregory, 22, was arrested on Egan Drive inbound for drunken driving. He was also charged with two counts of reckless endangerment. His vehicle was impounded and he was transported to the Lemon Creek Correctional Center.


About 8:30 p.m. Monday, a man reported his silver Huffy boys' bicycle stolen from outside his residence on Crowhill Drive in Douglas.


Shortly after 3 p.m. Monday, a grass fire was reported in the middle of the lot between the Juneau Police Department and Big Kmart. The fire was just over an acre when firefighters arrived. Locked fences and long distances to hydrants delayed their response somewhat, but the fire did not reach the black spruce near Big Kmart. A resident suffering from smoke inhalation was transported to Bartlett Regional Hospital.

About 7 p.m., Capital City Fire & Rescue responded to a second grass fire - a patch, 20 by 30 feet, near Evergreen Ford. It ran close to a building, but there was no damage. Witnesses to both fires said there was suspicious activity and children were seen running from the area, but the fire marshall has not yet made an official determination of cause for either incident.

Vandalism and criminal mischief:

About 8:30 a.m. Monday, a man, 63, reported a loader vandalized some time during the weekend on Anka Street. A rock was thrown through the windshield.

About 10:30 a.m. Monday, a man, 38, reported his 1995 Ford pickup vandalized Saturday night at the Auke Bay Harbor overflow lot. The driver's side window was broken by a rock.

About 7 a.m. today, a woman, 39, reported the slashing of two tires on her parked vehicle on Glacier Highway in the Lemon Creek area. Estimated damage was $200.

Underage drinking:

About 6:30 p.m. Monday, a man, 33, was cited on Glacier Highway for furnishing alcohol to a minor. He was released at the scene.

About 7 p.m. Monday, a man, 24, was cited at DeHarts store in Auke Bay for furnishing alcohol to a minor. He was released at the scene.

About half an hour after midnight Monday, police stopped a vehicle on Mendenhall Valley Loop. A passenger in the vehicle, a boy, 18, was cited for minor consuming and released.

Hit-and-run incidents:

About 2 p.m. Monday, a woman, 44, reported her 1993 Mercury Sable hit-and-run in a Mendenhall Valley business parking lot on March 1. There were no leads or suspects.


On Sunday, a Juneau woman, 57, was cited by Juneau Fish and Wildlife Troopers for sport fishing without a valid 2001 sport fish license. On the same day, a Juneau man, 42, was cited for the same reason.

About 2:30 p.m. Monday, a man, 41, was arrested in the lobby of the police department on an outstanding $500 Alaska State Trooper warrant charging failure to appear on two original charges of second-degree criminal trespassing.

Shortly before 9 p.m. Monday, a man, 28, was cited at the Alaska Liquor Cache for being intoxicated on a licensed premises. He was released at the scene.
