Marie Ann Louise Marsh
Long-time Alaska resident Marie Ann Louise Marsh died April 11, 2000, in the Sitka Pioneers' Home. She was 104.
She was born Oct. 1, 1895, in San Francisco to Etienne Nouquet and Genevieve Bonnen. She moved to Alaska at an early age and married Jackson J. Marsh.
The couple operated a fox farm in the vicinity of the present Glacier Cinema Theater site in Juneau. The accomplished homesteader and fox farmer's wife moved to the Sitka Pioneers' Home in 1973.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
She is survived by her husband's niece Stella Hanratty of Columbus, Ohio.
Marsh was buried next to her husband in the national war cemetery plot in Sitka. A memorial service will be scheduled at the Sitka Pioneers' Home in the near future.
