Patient should be the primary consideration

I'm saddened that women in Juneau will no longer have the option of VBAC (vaginal birth after Cesarean section). My first child was delivered Cesarean, but I was lucky enough to have fantastic doctors that cared about my wishes, and allowed me to deliver two more children the regular old way.

In an age where the physician's immediate concern is litigation and not the health or well-being of the patient, these things will continue to happen more frequently. What will come next? Will Juneau lose its only OB care because Valley Medical cannot continue to pay insurance?

I'm also concerned that the lack of this service will cause some women to resort to telling the family birth center falsehoods in order to receive care there.
