JUNEAU - Bartlett Regional Hospital reopened an area of administrative offices Friday that had been quarantined due to the discovery of an unknown white powder from an established vendor's shipping box on Wednesday.
Toxicology results of the powder received from the State of Alaska Epidemiology Lab in Anchorage for biological threats were negative.
The powder had been discovered in a shipment of red dye used for blood testing. That shipment is being contained in a secure area at the hospital pending further testing of the white substance.
According to Bartlett Regional Hospital director of community relations Jim Strader, the threat has been lifted and the small portion of administrative offices near the laboratory that were closed are reopened and back in operation as normal.
