The Juneau-Douglas softball team picked up a pair of season-opening 5-3 wins over the Kings in a weekend series at Ketchikan.
Krista Barill picked up the win on Friday, recording six strikeouts in five innings of work.
Jennifer Nelson pitched the final two innings, recording four strikeouts to pick up the save.
Nelson and Barril gave up just three hits combined, while the Bears had 12 hits.
JDHS rallied from a 3-2 deficit on Saturday in the final inning.
Megan Mauseth drew a walk to start the rally, followed by a single by Nelson. With two outs, Taylor Larson doubled to the fence to score both runners before going home on a Kaci Hansen base hit.
Barril pitched three innings Saturday, and Nelson got the win after pitching the final four innings.
