Thank you to all the wonderful people who attended the benefit at the Di Sopra Restaurant! A wonderful time was had by all and the food was fantastic!
A very special thanks goes out to Kirt McLean, the executive chef at the Di Sopra and Fiddlehead Restaurant. Kirk did a great job of putting this benefit together. We also thank the following for their great talent and participation:

And thank you to Kirk Stagg and Sylvia Kreel for opening their restaurant and heart to helping the orphan and abused animals of Juneau!
From all of us at Gastineau Humane Society, but most of thank you on behalf of those that cannot speak for themselves.
...for gala event
The Juneau Arts and Humanities Council recently held its 2nd annual Academy Awards Gala fund raiser. This gala is held to raise funds for our student scholarship program so that we can provide Juneau's young people with additional opportunities to pursue their interest in the arts. The council wishes to thank all those who attended our gala evening, each in beautiful evening attire. We also wish to thank our volunteers who helped to plan, decorate and carry out the evening. The ballroom at Centennial Hall was ablaze in red and white table decorations, and the gold and black balloons and wall decorations added glamour to the festive occasion. A huge number of people helped in this effort. In particular, we would like to thank our gala committee of Katie Corbus, Dawn Findley Groves, Eric Kueffner and Cheryl Eldemar. Their organization was put into action by Corby Winters, who encouraged the council to undertake the Gala and was our spirited director of decorations and with financial and in-kind assistance from Alaska Litho, National Bank of Alaska and Gross Alaska Theater. Our silent auction contributors included the Baranof Hotel, Kent and Jenny Dawson, Sue Sloss and Nancy Karacand, Wendy Wolfe and John Osborne, Corby Winters, Perseverance Theatre, Ben Bowen, Joann Grady and Dawn Findley, Katie and Bill Corbus, Era Helicopters, Nate Johnson, Keeler Woodword, Eric Kueffner, Sherri Brown, Larry Hurlock, Coeur Alaska and Specialty Imports. We also received prize donations and services from D Street Design, Nell McConahey, Leah Stugis, KTOO, Juneau Drug, GCI, Carrs Floral, Good Humor Balloons, 3M Alaska, Alaska Laundry and Creative Source. George Elgee of Elgee, Rehfeld and Funk served as official ballot counter extraordinaire. We are also very appreciative to those supporters who could not attend the gala but gave direct assistance to our student scholarship fund. Our application process for student scholarships will begin in the very near future; all funds received from the gala and from direct support will be passed directly on to our young student artists. Thank you, Juneau! You have once again shown your continual support of the arts in our community.
...for support in Kake
I have struggled for months on how to write a letter of thanks. I'd like to ask the people of Kake to forgive me in the delay of expressing a heartfelt appreciation to each of you.
I'd like to take this opportunity now to thank all the people of Kake for all the work and effort they put into helping me and my family during our difficult time. I know my gramma would have been very proud of the people of Kake. They helped in everything that you can think of that goes into putting someone down to rest for eternity. They were a great comfort to my mom and dad and the family. The people of Kake are truly a blessing and I pray that the Lord will bless them always for their generosity and kindness.
Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart for your support, for your caring, for your concern and for your patience.
