Poets to read at Back Room, UAS

Student writers will read Monday and a published poet will read Friday next week, part of the ongoing "Between The Lines" poetry series.

Organizer Alexis Ross Miller said seventh- and eighth-grade students from Tonja Trani Moser and Annie Janes' class at Dzantik'i Heeni Middle School will read original work at 7 p.m. Monday at the Back Room at the Silverbow Inn. Miller said 10 to 30 students will read poetry and prose. Writer and performer Mary Lou Spartz has coached the students in recent weeks on writing and the presentation of their work.

Friday, April 27, University of Alaska Fairbanks professor and poet John Reinhard will read at the Egan Library at the University of Alaska Southeast. Reinhard teaches in the master of fine arts program at UAF, and he has published two books of poetry, "On the Road to Patsy Cline," and "Burning the Prairie." Cost of admission for the reading is $5 and free to UAS students.
