Juneau police, fire officials and state troopers reported:


About 2:30 a.m. today, a man, 22, was arrested at Gruening Park for theft of services and assault after not paying a cab fare and assaulting the cab driver. Alcohol was involved in the incident.

Thefts, lost and found items:

About 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, a man, 73, reported the theft of his wallet from his unlocked vehicle parked on Glacier Highway. The wallet was later recovered by its owner with cash missing.

About 1:20 p.m. Wednesday, a man, 40, reported the theft of a Panasonic compact disc player from his vehicle parked at Echo Cove. The value of the player was $500. In addition, an unknown amount of damage was done to the vehicle.

About 6 p.m. Wednesday, a man, 59, reported his black leather bifold wallet stolen from his unlocked vehicle parked on Lund Street. There were no leads or suspects.


Capital City Fire & Rescue responded to a fire alarm at Floyd Dryden Middle School at 9:41 a.m. Wednesday. Although there was an odor of smoke in the school, the cause could not be found.

Capital City Fire & Rescue responded to a fire alarm at Westridge Condominiums on Hermit Street about 10:50 a.m. Wednesday. The cause of the alarm's sounding could not be located.

Vandalism and criminal mischief:

About 6 a.m. today, a woman, 23, reported her Chevrolet pickup egged some time last night while it was parked on Moraine Way.


A vessel reported burning in the downtown harbor about 9 a.m. today was confirmed by the U.S. Coast Guard as part of a practice drill.
